This is kind of a great step here. After almost 16.000 Km I am back at the Atlantic Ocean (Gulf of Mexico). I left El Paso and my friend Nina with a sad feeling. It was just very nice and relaxing there. I was treated like a King and I kind of relaxed from all the stress I have been through the last couple of months. They where so kind to drop me of on the other end of the City. And for the first time I had to hitchhike on a big freeway which was not so nice. But I had to wait about one hour before I got picked up by a Mexican. He was on his way to Dallas but decided to do a detour to San Antonio to drop me off there. When I later checked it turned out to be a 300 Km detour for him which i didn´t realise while I was driving with him. That was awesome. Unfortunately I was extreme tired the whole time. There was no Air conditioning in the car so we would drive 870 Km with open windows at 130 Km/h :D I fell a sleep a couple of times but my non existent Spanish and his weak English would prevent any interesting conversations.
Anyway, I made the 877 Km within one day with one ride which will most likely never happen again. I got dropped of at a big intersection on the outskirts of San Antonio. When I found myself a somewhat proper Hitchhike spot, I send my Couchsurfer Amy a text where I am. Just 1 min. later there is a Woman screaming and waving from a Car on the Highway up the hill next to my road. At first I thought somebody is crazy but it turned out to be her just passing by. So I got picked up there which was awesome and totally random at the same time. While it is actually the second time I am picked up hitchhiking by a ccouchsurfer. This is just another example how things work out perfectly if they are meant to be. What followed where two awesome days that can not be described here but ended with some hangovers. I am seriously lucky that I had to leave the place because I liked it so much I might have liked the Idea of getting stuck there. Yesterday I had to make my way to Corpus Chirsti. I woke up with a massive Sleep deficit and the little breakfast I had was worn out pretty fast. For the first time I had to Hitchhike through an entire City to get to the outskirts. first I got picked up by a Mexican again but only for a short ride. Then I got picked up by this lovely couple who is going to move to Germany in two month.
They had no space in the Truck but let me ride on the back. They where very different, in a very good way that I could not tell if that was typical or untypical American. They made a detour and dropped me of at a nice spot and even gave me 15$. I wish I could have spend more time with them and hear all their stories. I had to wait 2 hours until I got a straight ride to Corpus Chirsti with a 20 year old. He was actually very nice as well, but at some point he said that he believes that he is the reincarnation of Jesus Christ. That was kind of awkward and I tried not to go into detail, destroying his "visions". He dropped me off at the Parking lot of my next Couchsurfers.
Still unshowerd and Hangover from the last 3 days, we went out to catch the next beers in Corpus Christi. Sometimes this feels like a never ending party, but every couple of days with another set of awesome poeple!
Now it is all about how will I manage to skip Mexico?! Today I will print out some leaflets and hang them out at some random Ports around here and hope that somebody will take me on his boat down to Guatemala. I kind of have a feeling that this will not work out, but I will give it a try anyway since I do not have a "Plan B" at the moment.
good night!
