Vancouver

Status:

Days on the Road: 41
Travelled Km: 10311
Location: Vancouver
------------------------------------

It rained almost two days without any break in Prince George.
So I was kind of stuck in the Apartment of my Couchsurfer who was really nice and let me stay
some more days. But I had to move on, because staying to long in one place means just wasting money. At least to some degree ;)
So I decided to leave on Thursday and if it would rain again I might even go for the Greyhound Bus
which would have been 80$. But as for the rest of my journey I was blessed with luck again!
The clouds seem to split open just above the small City and sunshine was welcoming me on the streets. I hit the streets around 9:30 am and only found some bad spots, but I would try anyway since the next bus would only be at 4 pm.
Prince George to Vancouver is about 790 Km and I knew it was a very ambitious goal to even try. But I figured I will hop on the Bus along the way to save some money if things would not work out. I was there maybe one hr. when Laura, Vet student, pulled over. I did not even noticed because the day before I put some fresh music on my MP3 and was listening to some Miles Davis. She had to honk a few times until I realised there was a car waiting to pick me up.
She took me about 130 km to Quesnel. After that I got picked up by Ken, I don´t even remember where I got of, but pretty soon I catched a ride to Cache Creek. In Cache Creek the Sun was already lowering behind the Mountains and I was looking around for a useful campsite.
It was 6:13 pm and i decided to try until 7 pm and then would go to town and check for water and buses. After 30 min I got picked up and he would bring me within 150 km of Vancouver to small town called "Hope" ;) And hope was the only thing that was left by now. It was pretty much dark and I was very exhausted and not really in the mood to setup my tent in the dark.
I was so close to Vancouver and I wanted to make it!
Around 9 pm Bruno turned over with a straight ride to Vancouver.
That was just the perfect finish of the day. I broke my record of longest Hitchhiking/day, I did not waste any money on Greyhound and I had perfect weather.
In addition to that, the ride from Cache Creek to Hope made it into my top 3 of the most scenic routes in Canada. Now of for some sightseeing in Vancouver!

Have a nice day
