Well ok, Tina you are right. Its time to write something again. I came to Mexico City, only to join the Road trip with the other Couchsurfers. We all met and they where very nice people. But is was only on the last night before we left, that the woman who owned the Car decided to bring along her Boyfriend. We actually discussed the option upon the meeting but I guess it was due to we where all a little drunk that we might thought it would work out. Anyway, when I was sober again and the decisions finally made it was that I realised that this is not a good idea. Because it was planed to sleep some nights in the Car, and we virtually had no Couchsurf host along the way set. It actually would not be a
prob
lem to tent, but it is rain season here, and my Tent sucks in rainy conditions. It was very obvious that this would only work out in a very uncomfortable way and somebody had to draw the short stick sooner or later. I so to speak volunteered and resigned. It was an awesome opportunity but I have the feeling it was better to stay here. And actually I am happy I did so. Because Mexico City is awesome. Its the first city on my journey that is really different from all what I have seen in my life so far. They only thing I miss here is the diversity in cultures. I clearly do not look like a Mexican and that draws a lot of attention, which I never experienced in my life. So far I almost took no pictures because I am still little concerned with robbery although I feel very safe here. But when I was with my host at the second biggest Market of Latin America, her Wallet and Phone got stolen
and I was walking right behind her almost all the time. They are quick and good! Food is so cheap here it is mind blowing. Vegetarian restaurant: Salad, Soup, main dish, desert and refill drinks for 3.70€. And if you eat out on the streets which is very common here you can easily fill your stomach for 0.50€. For 0.17€ you can enter the Metro and drive everywhere in this mega city. But sadly it is Raining everyday. It starts around 13-15 and continues in the night. There is not much time to go out during the day at the moment. But what I have seen so far is very nice. Its a beautiful old City although its falling apart at some points. Its amazing to see how all these people adapt to not having much money. There is a lot of creativity. 6 year olds approach you at 12 in the night and want to sell you Electro Shocks :D I have never seen so many cops anywhere. When they begin their shift and get in the car, they turn on the signal lights, and they stay on for the rest of the day. ;) In the end all those people enjoy their life with the little they have. And the only thing I have seen coming close to this was in Florence, but there where a lot of tourists involved. There is music on the Plazas and people from young to old enjoy it together. So but now I am almost finishing my second week staying here and I broke my rule again. At least I switched my Couchsurfer once so far. But I guess its a mix, of not really knowing what to do, lack of Spanish skills and rain weather that keeps me here at the moment. But so far I don´t care for my rule because I am not in danger to get stuck here. At least for now :)Cheers
